HUINCA was formed in Santiago of Chile, in late by 2001 for Mauricio Contreras (vocals and guitar), Miguel Yáñez (drums), Jorge “Cocke” Cumplido (guitar) and Flavio Salas (bass guitar). They previously started playing speed metal in the band Stonehenge. Recording “When passions smashes reasons” demo 1998 the band began their carrier. Some of the musicians have professional studies of music so the old metal music way was not too much interesting for the band. So they started to look for a new fresh way to do music keeping the feeling and power. The musical change came when the band realized that the roots of the music is the new way to make music from the heart and at the same time keeping the rock. Classic rock music uses folklore and black roots so “why we can´t use the roots and melodies from this side of the world (the last country in the world)” they said. So they started to compose new music taking from north to south of Chile (Eastern island included) the most representatives rhythms and melodies mixing it with rock- metal music. The music was ready and many shows appeared giving to the scene a fresh music and powerful shows. This was the beginning to think about doing an album interesting but at the same time powerful and modern. After 6 month of pre production Huinca was ready to record the songs. Telecombs Inversiones (Miami, USA) financed the record making a personal and friendly deal with the band. Leaving the band free to makes future dealings with any company. Thank to them the album was done. The album it´s called Huinca as the band, to keep the name in mind of the audience. 10 tracks of metal, roots and rock music. (includes two sung in Spanish). Lyrics are writing from the perspective of “no more church lies and abuses (Rewards)”, “bad imperial influences( Mari chi weu: Mapuche warrior war scream, means ten times we will win)” encouraging the people to fight for their dreams ( Stone´s dreams). No more lonely life consuming emptiness, giving charity (Charity). The fear of have been a human being (Fobia). Scars it´s a dark song of a breaking heart thoughts. “Chile is the mayor cuprum productor in the world. That is our most important metal so we play with that idea making the visual concept in cuprum. Chilean-metal= Cuprum”.
